Call for Volunteers in Port Franks on July 2nd!

Event : Superior Street Phragmites Cull

Where: adjacent to the apartments close to St. Anne’s Church in Port Franks

Date: Thursday July 2, 2020

Time: We will begin at 9:00a.m. and predict that it will take half a day to complete. Your help will be welcomed at any time for as long as you’d like to stay.

Please dress for safety: good closed toe shoes or boots (no sandals or flip flops), sun protection (hat and sunscreen), protective clothing for scratches, toxic plants, insect bites (garden gloves, long sleeved shirt and long pants)

ALL WORK FOR VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ON THE BANK, NOT IN THE WATER! Volunteers will be raking and piling the cut phrag onto tarps for the municipality to dispose of safely.

Suggested to bring:
-rake
-refillable water bottle
-lawn chair if you’d like
-cutting shears if you have them

Unfortunately due to the community centre being closed and current health concerns we will not be providing food at this event, only water.

The Lambton Shores Phragmites Community Group (aka your friends and neighbours) really needs and appreciates volunteers!

Please PM us if you can help! Feel free to share, everyone welcome. Thanks!

Anyone able to train the gypsy moth caterpillars to eat Phragmites instead????
