What a great day of progress! Yesterday we were busy cutting standing dead Phragmites at the L Lake wetland along Outer Drive in Port Franks with help from a Nature Conservancy Canada crew and an Ausable Bayfield Conservation Area crew. Thank you to the community members who showed up to help us out and of course the ever dependable hard working Lambton Shores Nature Trails volunteers. The crews moved on to the foot of Huron Street and cleared a lot of Phragmites along the creek. As always we are very grateful to the Municipality of Lambton Shores for picking up and responsibly disposing of the cut Phragmites. Clearing the dead biomass is a huge help as it does not break down quickly and chokes the wetland. Cutting also makes it much easier to see and deal with new growth. Every year there is more and more progress made!
