Further mitigation in L Lake Wetland and the Ausable Cut

On October 13, 2023, the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority the Lambton Shores Phragmites Community Group and the Nature Conservancy of Canada / Conservation de la nature Canada Habitat Restoration Team conducted treatment on NCC, private, and municipal lands on the inner L Lake wetland area and on dry Municipal lands along the Ausable River targeting invasive phragmites australis. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative and not all of the project areas could be reached. Areas that were unable to be treated will be prioritized for future treatment. We are thrilled to have all of this work done and are mindful that it will take more time and vigilance to fully restore and monitor this precious area of ecological significance and beautiful habitat.
